Just to keep everyone in touch - still with my parents in Eugene, having a quiet, chilled-out time, catching up on missed sleep from the last 30 years or so ...

Have done very little other than go swimming, drink coffee and visit with friends, watch the ATP Paris tennis tournament, and update my iPod with as many of my mother's CDs as I can cram onto it - she has an amazing collection!

We have been (of course) watching the election coverage, and my parents voted for the first time in 40 years in this country, now they are citizens at last. For those not resident here, it's a very different process from the UK - not only do you vote for your local representatives in the Senate and Congress, you vote for the President and Vice-President, and many other local officials and also local Measures. For my US readers, in the UK you only vote for your local Member of Parliament, and the party winning the most Members forms the next government - the leader of that party becomes the Prime Minister, and the Head of State remains the Monarch.

Stay tuned ...
