Day 30 - Seal Beach, California

Having fun in the sun, but the fires are pretty dreadful; yesterday there was a pall of choking smoke that had drifted right over the coast - we had caught the Aqualink to Long Beach Aquarium via the Queen Mary to get lunch at Bubba Gump's (Bucket O'Trash highly recommended), and it was quite frightening to find the sky black when we came out of the restaurant. Never seen so many people looking up in the sky in the middle of the day. This is very late in the year for fires like this.
----------
Last night went to see the latest Bond movie - Quantum of Solace - all-out action, and some extraordinary aerial dogfighting scenes, together with the usual miracle escapes. Fun! Great scenes also from the Palio in Siena - which reminded me of when the girls and I were there for the Palio in 1998 (I think it was 1998!), when we nearly got hit by a flying flagpole.
----------
We're having a lazy day today - brunch, a walk down at the marina admiring all the yachts and gin palaces, and then down to the beach to watch the sunset before dinner. I suppose the only good thing about the pollution caused by the fires is the extra-lovely sunsets ...

Enough of that fun in the sun business! Thirty days later your name plate is still outside your office! Don't you want to come back to work? ;-)
