Day 28 - Seal Beach, California

Another long drive today, all the way down the Pacific Coast Highway. Stopped off at Carmel for a coffee, in hopes of bumping into Clint Eastwood (ex-mayor) - but no such luck. Absolutely perfect weather all day, driving with the windows open - wishing I had rented a convertible! By the time I got to Lompoc, it was 90 degF [32 degC], somewhat different from Chicago ;-).
----------
There has been a dreadful wildfire at Santa Barbara, and all the traffic slowed almost to a standstill to look at it. More than 100 homes have been destroyed and several thousand people evacuated. The smoke was visible from 10 miles away, and I could feel my eyes and throat stinging.
----------
The traffic gradually worsened the nearer I got to Los Angeles, and the last 30 miles took almost 2 hours; fortunately the local classical music station puts on 'road rage busters' - which work fine if everyone is tuned to that station!
----------
Now staying with my uncle and aunt in Seal Beach for a few days, but will try to add some news each day. Might add more to this post also, but now I need to go to sleep!

Chicago is currently 35 degF. I saw on the news that the wildfires have been getting worse.
