Slept really late this morning, but Melinda was ready with coffee when I emerged! Also bagels from Mike's Bagels just down the street. First errand of the day was to buy the CD of The Lion King, which we tracked down in the wonderful Colony store in Times Square - an amazing collection of CDs, DVDs, vinyl, sheet music, and musical paraphernalia. Could have spent a fortune there!
Made our way to the Film Society of the Lincoln Center where we had tickets for the New York Film Festival, to see Independencia, a Filipino film about the Philippines in the 1930s. Not entirely narrative, and borrowing studio techniques of the time, we both liked it a lot even if we didn't entirely understand it. Many evocative jungle scenes, entirely filmed in the studio! There was a Q&A session with the director afterwards; he was very polite when someone asked him "What was the message of your movie?"
We walked thoughtfully through Central Park to find our dining quarters - Rue 57 - a French restaurant with a sushi bar! It was excellent sushi, too.
Finished the day with dancing at the Tavern on the Green, right in the middle of Central Park; as we made our way there we could see the almost full moon rising through the trees. My swing dancing leaves a lot to be desired, but Melinda is very good at it!
